Senior Vice President, Programs and Partnerships

BAY AREA, CA, FULL-TIME/EXEMPT

PURPOSE AND SCOPE

 

The Senior Vice President, Programs & Partnerships (SVP) is a newly created, pivotal role as Raising A Reader launches a multi-year strategic plan which envisions a 40% increase in children reached; a renewed and increased focus on demonstrating impact on Kindergarten readiness; a re-imagined, best-in-class support model for 300+ affiliates nationwide; and national partnerships that deepen local impact and help RAR reach thousands of new children annually. The SVP will oversee each of these areas of impact, supporting and building a high-performing team of ~10 individuals that collectively encompass replication and expansion services (including sales), programmatic advising and support to over 300 RAR program coordinators, impact measurement, and partnership development.

The SVP will have a critical role in creating a refined vision for each of RAR’s strategic pillars, then develop and steward the implementation plan. Moreover, the SVP will serve as a thought partner to the CEO and board of directors as they look to new impact opportunities in the coming years; this includes but is not limited to reconceptualizing the social enterprise in ways that would provide new impact and revenue opportunities for the network.

 

 

Marketing and Communications Manager

BAY AREA, CA, FULL-TIME/EXEMPT

PURPOSE AND SCOPE

The Communications and Marketing Manager is a newly created, pivotal role as Raising A Reader launches a multi-year strategic plan which envisions a 40% increase in children reached; a renewed and increased focus on demonstrating impact on Kindergarten readiness; a re-imagined, best-in-class support model for 300+ affiliates nationwide; and national partnerships that deepen local impact and help RAR reach thousands of new children annually. This role will oversee the development and implementation of the national offices’ strategic marketing and communications plan and develop a communications and storytelling toolkit to build the capacity of our 300 RAR program coordinators, serving rural and urban communities across the country.

In this position, you will serve as a thought partner to the CEO and board of directors as they look to refine and elevate the RAR brand for great reach and scale. Your overarching objective will be to work with other staff and manage communications in a way that supports RAR’s overall mission and broader objectives.

Reporting to the President and CEO, this role is a member of executive office and cross-functional leadership team.

The ideal creative candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment; have a track record of successful communications management for a regional or national nonprofit organization; have experience managing creative consultants and contractors; possess an ability to prioritize ruthlessly to keep high-quality work moving forward; and bring an eagerness for culture-building such that RAR’s core values come through in all of its work.

Development Director

BAY AREA, CA, FULL-TIME/EXEMPT

PURPOSE AND SCOPE

Reporting to the President and CEO, the Development Director is responsible for developing and leading Raising A Reader’s (“RAR”) annual contributed revenue plan. The Director will contribute to strategy development, build relationships with institutional (corporations, private foundations, and government) funders and major donors, and solicit up to six figure gifts in partnership with the President and CEO and Board of Directors. A member of the organization’s cross functional leadership team, the director will work closely across divisions on strategy development for the organization’s success. The Director will play a significant leadership role in RAR’s ability to raise revenue to support the organization’s $4MM operating budget:

Raise contributed revenue to support annual operations, ~$1.75MM+;
Lead a three year, $4.9MM growth fund campaign to support RAR’s new strategic plan; and
Indirectly support $2.5MM in earned revenue, annually.

The Development Director will provide excellent project management direction for all aspects of development, provide indirect supervision to associate team members, and external grant writer support, as needed This position will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA.
